Adult Language School began
in 2000 as a few teachers wanting to teach various languages privately.
We originally started with English, Japanese, Mandarin and Indonesian and
have added other languages over the years.
Our mission is to teach conversational language. It is very easy to pick up a phrase book or dictionary, or even go online and use translation software, but to really learn a language you need to speak it. That's why we've continued to offer this service. There is a huge demand for people wanting to learn another language, either for a trip overseas or to improve communication in a multi-language relationship, or even to do better business deals.

Knowing how to speak in a
casual way is a lot more surprising and impressive than learning some formal
vocabulary. Our teachers pride themselves in being able to help you learn
how to have a casual conversation in the language of your choice.
Over the years we've had teachers change and new teachers join us but it wasn't until 2008 that we decided to get an office in the city, not far from Town Hall station. We now have a classroom at 601, level 6, 250 Pitt Street where some private lessons can be conducted, depending on the time and day. |
In 2008
we began offering TESOL
certificate courses to people who wished to improve their chances of
teaching English overseas.
This is the perfect match for us as many students learning their language of choice will want to go to the country where the language comes from. What better way to practice the language than to stay there and get a job as an English teacher! At the moment we have 10 teachers working on a casual basis teaching various languages.
