regarding Adult English School and Adult Language School courses and private lessons We advise you to familiarise yourself with our refund policy so that there are no misunderstandings. This refund policy is similar to other refund policies by other institutions around the world. If the course has started, there are no refunds of the remaining course fees. More details below. Introduction This refund policy is applicable to students who are enrolled in Adult English School and Adult Language School courses and private tuition in Sydney. This policy has been written with reference to the rights of consumers according to the NSW Office of Fair Trading. 1. Policy relating to refunds before a course or seminar starts. In the event of a student withdrawing from a course or seminar within the 7 days before the start of the 1st day of the course or the day of the seminar, course fees paid will be refunded less an administration fee of 10%. If the student withdraws from the course or seminar more than 1 week before the course or seminar starts, no administration fee will be charged. Strictly no refunds after the course or seminar starts. 2. Policy relating to course transfers before the course starts In the event that a student cannot attend the current course he or she may transfer to the same or similar course at another date. There is a 10% administration fee for transferring to a later course. 3. Policy relating to Visas and refunds If a student pays their course fee in advance, and arrives in Sydney only to find immigration blocks them from entering, if the course has not started when they advise the centre then a refund of their course fee is payable, less an administration fee of 10%. If the course has already started when they contact us then a refund is not possible. 4. Policy relating to not completing a course and refunds. No refund is possible in the following situations:
To clarify, in the event of a student discontinuing the course after starting, no refund is possible for any reason. Students should make sure they read all the details regarding their chosen course or seminar before paying their fee. 5. Policy relating to Adult English School or Adult Language School canceling a course. In the unlikely event that a course is canceled we will endeavour to ensure that all people registered for the course are given plenty of notice and refunds of any course fees paid. Options will also be given to students to transfer to the same or similar courses starting at a later date. 6. Policy relating to private lesson bookings cancelations Our private tuition policy is fairly flexible. As long as the student gives a minimum of 24 hours notice to change the time and day of a lesson then there are no additional fees or charges and we are happy to reschedule the lesson for another time. Students are welcome to book lessons days, weeks and months in advance and reschedule up to 24 hours before the lesson. Please note that if a lesson is canceled ON THE SAME DAY then a cancelation fee of the cost of the lesson is charged to pay for the teacher who came in to teach that lesson. As all tutors are paid by the hour, if a tutor comes in to teach but the student has canceled the lesson at the last minute, the tutor should be compensated for his or her time. The cancelation fee is there to cover the tutor's time. If you wish to pay your cancelation fee online, you can do so here Exceptions. If the lesson can still take place at a slightly later time in the day, no cancelation fee is necessary. If the tutor is able to be contacted before leaving their home to come in to teach, the Principal will use his discretion as to whether a cancelation fee needs to be levied. 7. Policy relating to the use of prepaid packs of 10 private lessons If a package deal has been taken and a student books and pays for 10 private lessons in advance to take advantage of a 10% discount, but then decides they cannot use all the lessons, a refund can be given less an administration charge of 10% for the remaining lessons, on the condition that the refund is requested within the current financial quarter. The deadlines for refund requests within each quarter are 30th June, 30th September, 31st December and 31st March. If lessons are bought within one financial quarter and refunds are requested in the next quarter, no refunds are payable. In any case, a 10 lesson package will expire if not used within 90 days. Please note that requesting a refund of unused lessons will also forfeit the discount and the amount will be recalculated to be the normal price. Case Study
