James would wait
for us to respond to his questions and would then correct our pronunciation
and make sure we got the pronunciation correct before moving on. It was
obvious that James was very positive whenever we got something correct
and would also be patient and understanding when errors were made.
The lessons covered
phrases related to greetings, for giving thanks and apologies, the various
ways to say good-bye, give compliments and approval. This was useful in
not only introducing us to new words but gave us an opportunity to improve
and work on our pronunciation.
When I first started
the course, initially I was stressed and frustrated as I had no connection
with the language. There was nothing I could latch on to as everything
was totally alien to me. After the first lesson I thought I'd never learn
it! But, with reviewing the work at home and giving myself some time to
think about it, I found the lessons quickly became easier. I believe this
is due to James' patience and understanding of my level and his genuine
concern in making sure I progress."
